Kim Kardashian Blames ChatGPT for Failing Her Law Exam

November 11, 2025

Kim Kardashian’s law school journey hit a tech glitch. During a recent Vanity Fair lie detector interview, the reality star turned aspiring lawyer revealed her unique study strategy: using ChatGPT for legal help. She admitted snapping photos of test-style questions and feeding them to the AI for answers.

It didn’t go well. “It has made me fail tests... all the time,” the 45-year-old media mogul said. Her frustration boiled over to the point of yelling at the chatbot.

Kim didn’t hold back, calling on OpenAI to “do better” and help her more effectively.

For someone juggling fame, parenting, business, and bar prep, the appeal of fast answers from a smart bot made sense, but it backfired.

It is tough, demanding, and requires passing the “baby bar,” a test known for its high failure rate.

Her early efforts didn’t go smoothly. Kardashian failed the baby bar three times before finally passing in 2021. The process wasn’t hidden either. Her struggles and frustrations were featured on her reality show, giving fans a look at the emotional toll. Despite setbacks, she pushed forward, proving that determination matters more than a perfect scorecard.

Kim / IG / Kim Kardashian, 45, isn’t taking the traditional law school route. The media queen is enrolled in California’s Law Office Study Program, a unique path that allows students to learn under the guidance of a practicing attorney instead of attending law school.

The Full California Bar Exam

After passing the baby bar and continuing her legal apprenticeship, Kardashian faced the final boss: the California Bar Exam. This two-day monster is one of the toughest exams in the country. Law grads spend months prepping, and even then, many don’t pass on the first try.

By November 2024, she had taken the exam and was waiting for results.

That is when her ChatGPT comments resurfaced. People were surprised to hear how heavily she leaned on AI for legal studies. Many questioned the logic of trusting an AI tool with such complex material. Legal tests demand accuracy, deep reasoning, and understanding of context, areas where current AI can still fall short.

Tech Tools Went Too Far

ChatGPT offers instant answers, but legal education isn’t about speed. It is about precision. Context matters. Word choice matters. Even slightly off responses can lead to test failure. That’s the risk Kardashian faced by using AI as a shortcut.

Air / Pexels / This wasn’t her first moment in the ChatGPT spotlight. In June 2025, she posted a tongue-in-cheek message to the AI, thanking it for “taking accountability.”

It was part joke, part truth. Some found it funny. Others saw it as blame-shifting. Either way, it sparked debate about how far AI should be trusted, especially in something as serious as law.

Kardashian’s legal journey is still unfolding. The story isn’t about one exam or one bad answer. It is a broader look at how even smart tools have limits. AI can’t replace hard study or human feedback. Legal tests, especially, demand more than quick answers.

Frustration is natural when tools don’t work as expected. However, over-reliance on flawed technology can cause more harm than good. Kardashian learned this the hard way. Whether she passes the next test or not, the message is clear: AI can assist, but it can’t take the wheel.
